Where's Chef Jamie West this week?

The former San Ysidro Ranch chef has really been bouncing around the past couple of years.

In October 2012, he was named Exec Chef of retirement facility, Valle Verde.
In May 2013, he was named Exec Chef of retirement facility, Casa Dorinda.
He was recently named General Manager of the yet to be completed Oliver's (the old Peabody's) on Coast Village Road.

Perhaps the new eatery is looking to bring in a more, shall we say, mature clientele.

Pressed Juicery to open in Montecito

Juicy news.....Pressed Juicery is adding one more store to it's healthy lineup of locations.  Raw. Cold pressed. Delivered daily. Yum.
PRESSED JUICERY was born out of the idea that in order to find fulfillment and balance each day, modern people need to be armed with a fresh set of tools that are simple, convenient, and tailored to their hectic schedules. We believe that everyone is entitled to live their best lives, but in order for this to happen, we need to get back to our roots. While the benefits of juicing are endless, we aim to cut through the confusion and condescension of so many health trends and get to the point: our bodies require vital nutrients to function at their optimal levels. Pressed Juicery provides a convenient way to meet those requirements.
It's not a revolutionary concept, but it seems that with every step we've taken towards making the world more connected, we have somehow lost sight of the basics. At PRESSED, we want you to have it all. Our drinks are blended daily and personalized to your lifestyle, providing you with the option to hop online and order individual bottles or a cleanse package, straight to your doorstep as often as you'd like. Life gets complicated, but at the end of the day all of your goals are possible if you have a fine-tuned vehicle to help you accomplish them. So, let us do the work, while you enjoy the ride.
Pressed Juicery Montecito is set to open this coming Tuesday in the Von's Montecito Grocery Center next to Little Alex's....so mark your calendars. Get ready to get back to your roots.

Follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, too.

Suzanne Goin to open up Farm to Table Restaurant in Montecito

Suzanne Goin of Lucques fame is packing up her knives and coming to the Santa Barbara area. (although, technically, she is already here with her husband's The Hungry Cat)
Chef Suzanne Goin and business partner Caroline Styne already have Lucques, AOC, Tavern and the most recent Larder at Maple Drive (and Goin and husband David Lentz share three Hungry Cats). Now Goin and Styne are adding their first out-of-town property, a farm-to-table restaurant in the tony Santa Barbara suburb of Montecito.

The as-yet-unnamed restaurant is slated to open in late spring 2013 as part of developer James Rosenfield's makeover of the Montecito Country Mart at 1014 Coast Village Road. Rosenfield is the developer of the Brentwood County Mart and the Marin Country Mart.  - LATimes Daily Dish

    Pascale Beale-Groom

If you have not purchased any of her Montecito Kitchen cookbooks, you don't know what you are missing. The meringues and the little vanilla pots de creme that she provided for attendees of the Edible Institute this weekend were OUT OF THIS WORLD!

    Merci! Merci! Merci!

WhoDidily Cupcakes coming to downtown Santa Barbara

WhoDidily cupcakes of Montecito is taking their baking racks on the road and opening up a new storefront in Paseo Nuevo, in the space where the departed Cheese Shop was.

WhoDidily has gotten lots of press in the past couple of years. They were featured on FoodNetwork's Cupcake Wars last year. Then before that, they had a little legal rumble with the 800lb gorilla of the cupcake world, Sprinkles. (That was when WhoDidily was known as Sprinkled Pink Cupcake Couture.)

The local cupcake batter battle gets a little heated. We'll see how the crumbs settle with Crushcakes and Bella Dolce seeing new competition in their midst.

Local Chef, Teresa Fanucchi and the Immaculate Heart Center

are highlighted in the Los Angeles Times.

People visit retreats for many reasons, seeking guidance, rest or refuge from a hectic life. Whatever it is they are hungering for, all of the guests at the Immaculate Heart Center for Spiritual Renewal in Montecito at least go away well-fed, thanks to the highly lauded meals of Teresa Fanucchi.

Her recipes, and the dramatic history of the group that employs her, the Los Angeles-based Immaculate Heart Community, inspired "A Place at the Table," a cookbook published last year by Elevated Lab Press. This spiral-bound gem offers seasonal meal plans and some 90 recipes, many based on vegetables, fruit and herbs from the gardens and orchards on the property.

...Since her days as a holistic culinary student at Bauman College in Northern California, Fanucchi has been interested in what she calls the spirituality of cooking. She is mindful of the labor and energy involved in growing ingredients before they reach her hands: "I try to bring an awareness and a respect for that in my cooking."

....The daughter of a pistachio farmer, Fanucchi, 41, grew up in Bakersfield, and meals often came from the family gardens. You could say she has returned to her roots, with produce growing just steps away from her current work kitchen.

"It's really lovely. When it's that close and that fresh, there's such a beauty in the simplicity of the food," she says.

A case in point is her watermelon salad, where three ingredients — olive oil, lime juice and fresh mint — enliven the fruit in a surprising way. - Latte Times

You can purchase "A Place at the Table" for $35 at www.immaculateheartcenter.org/
