Dr. McSteamy

Looks like Dr. McDreamy might be serving up steamy caffeinated beverages as actor Patrick Dempsey's company is part of a deal buying up bankrupt Tully's coffee.

Seattle could be seeing a whole lot more of TV actor Patrick Dempsey, whose investment group Global Baristas was the high bidder at approximately $9.15 million for Tully’s Coffee in Thursday’s auction of the bankrupt coffee shop chain. - Puget Sound Business Journal


This is not the only time that Mr. Dempsey has come to the "rescue" this year.

Blush. Float.

Not just two words, but names of two new businesses coming to town.

Blush appears to be the name of the new nightclub where the old Zelo's used to be. (according to a little paperwork in the window.)

Float is a new luxury spa going in on Canon Perdido Street just 1/2 block up from the Lobero Theatre.

And, it looks like Esau's in Carpinteria is still available for sale.

is getting fricasséed. OUCH.
Williams-Sonoma profit falls 90%. The kitchenware and home decor chain earned $12.2 million during its latest quarter, down from $124.6 million a year earlier. Revenue declined 27% to $1.01 billion. - Latte Times

Mrs. Field’s Original Cookies, Inc. on Aug. 24 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company, which filed a prepackaged plan of reorganization, said it plans to emerge from bankruptcy within 45 days.

The announcement comes a little more than a week after Mrs. Field’s filed its intent to seek bankruptcy protection with the Securities and Exchange Commission. - BakingBusiness.com
