The Great Pizza Mizza Scavenge Hunt

Pizza Mizza is spreading a little fun and excitement (to go along with their great pizza.) Hints to the hiding places of five (count them...5) $100 certificates to Pizza Mizza will be shared on their or their Facebook page or Twitter stream
Our $500 Santa Barbara Scavenger Hunt is only a week away, Dec. 29th. We can't wait to reveal clues to their hiding spots. #pizzamizzahunt

How deliciously delightful is that! Good luck to y'all. I'll be on the hunt, too.

It's Summertime in Santa Barbara

and that means free films shown in the County Courthouse Sunken Gardens. This year featuring Monsters!

The films will also be shown at UCSB Campbell Hall as the film series is being co-sponsored by UCSB's Arts & Lectures.

Grab a blankie, picky-nick basket and your main squeeze for a great "scary date night" on the grass and under the stars at the beautiful Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project

Barefoot Wines wants you to take a stand in the sand and is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation to support beach rescues and cleanups.

CLICK HERE to cast your vote in support of one of four Surfrider Foundation campaigns. Each campaign will receive $5,000 from Barefoot Wine, and the one with the most votes will receive an additional $5,000! (I HOPE YOU VOTE FOR GAVIOTA!)

You can cast your vote once per day through August 15th (voting is reset at midnight EST) so keep your votes coming daily.

Barefoot is also throwing a Beach Cleanup event on August 15th with a little party afterwards.

Beach Rescue - Santa Barbara
Saturday, August 15, 2009 3 pm -
Celebration: 5:00 pm. -7:00 p.m.

South Lanai @ The Endless Summer Bar and Cafe
113 Harbor Way, Santa Barbara, CA

To attend this event, you must RSVP. Celebration is reserved for those who attend the clean-up. Entry is on a first come, first serve basis.

Basics: At a Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project event, we take a stand in the sand and make a lasting footprint by "heeling" beaches across the country. Together with the Surfrider Foundation, we are helping beaches stay "barefoot-friendly."

For each event, we target the needs of the local beach community. Sometimes we host a traditional beach cleanup, but other times we'll do a native planting or a dune restoration. No matter what, we thank volunteers 21+ afterwards with a celebration featuring live music, food and Barefoot Wine. We toast the efforts of these local communities who join us in raising awareness about the importance of having healthy beaches for generations to come.

Volunteers should arrive in light colored, comfortable clothing and protective gear like hats, sunglasses and, depending on the task they plan to tackle, closed toed shoes. We generally try to provide sunscreen and water, but it's always good to bring your own just in case.

You must be 21+ to participate in this event.

Have YOU called the Lunch Lady?

510-351-7654

Mmmmmmm...Mmmmmmm....MMMmmmmmmm. Good Ol' Mash pahtaytoes.
"The soup of the day is going to be beef noodle. The vegetable of the day is steamed cauliflower," says the sweet Southern voice. There's nothing too unusual about that. What is unusual is what comes next, her singing a song in her charming off-tune way with made-up lyrics, and the fact that up to 50,000 people a month from all over the country call a phone number just to hear her talk about the lunch menu at a place they will never eat. Oh, and to wish them a beautiful day.

It all started as a way to cheer up employees worried about impending layoffs at the United States. - Airserv

Haven't called it lately. She retired from the "official lunch place" years ago...I was one of those 50,000 folks a month calling in to get a little southern sunshine.
