RECIPE CONTEST!

To celebrate the second anniversary of Well Dressed Food, Leite's Culinaria newest partner, and to introduce six of the company's new, all-natural gourmet products, we're excited to join with David Tomberlin, president of WDF, in announcing the Well Dressed Food Summer Sensations Recipe Contest.

The contest is an opportunity to show your creativity to the world, for the winning recipe will be professionally photographed and featured on the Web sites of both Leite's Culinaria and Well Dressed Food, as well as handed out at the 54th Annual Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City, held from June 29 to July 1, 2008. In addition, the winning cook will receive a check for $1,500.00. And we haven't forgotten the runner-up: He or she will receive a check for $500.00.

To enter, create as many recipes as you like that revolve around summertime entertaining and that utilize at least one Well Dressed Food product per recipe. Recipes will be judged on creative use of ingredients (35%), taste (25%), appearance (25%), and ease of preparation (15%). Judges will include representatives from Well Dressed Food and Leite's Culinaria, as well as editors, food writers, chefs, and former national cooking contest winners.

Bag Monster

has a fun blog! (Thanks for stopping by, Bag Monster!)
It's hard to be a Bag Monster in the Age of Bag Bans. My story starts in San Francisco, the "City of Tolerance," where my family was banned. For 30 years we've been free to ride the wind and water currents world-wide and live in safety under kitchen sinks and in drawers. San Francisco’s Anti-Bag Monster agenda is spreading around the world. If your community is Bag Monster friendly, please notify me... Maybe I could stay under your kitchen sink for a while? Just ‘till I get back on my feet.
Although, I believe in the "Anti-Bag Monster propoganda"....

Goodbye 2007...Hello 2008

One of the best times for foodies is the recapping of favorite recipes and restaurants from various periodicals and newspapers.

The Los Angeles Times has it's 10 best up.
SUCCULENT pork ribs with a spicy chipotle sauce, sweet zucchini braised to a buttery softness, the miracle of a Meyer lemon posset (like a mousse but with livelier flavor and a more elegant texture), a spectacular summer pie packed with nectarines and berries. All of the recipes published in the Food section in 2007 were so appealing that it was especially especially hard this time around to choose the year's 10 best.
Some interesting ones....
The San Francisco Chronicle has their favorite 10 dining spots. Some new faces on the verizon in the bay area...! some that piqued my curiosity for my next venture up to The Bay....
  • SPQR - 1911 Fillmore St. (x Pine) - The City
  • Ubuntu 1140 Main St. (x Pearl) - Napa. Restaurant and Yoga Studio.
  • Nick's Cove 23240 Highway 1 - Marshall (Point Reyes) A Pat Kuleto restaurant. Need we say more?
The Detroit Free Press has their top Test Kitchen Recipes including:
Food & Wine published 650 recipes this year. They highlight 90 of their favorites including:
Speaking of the "bubbly", Cakespy tries a little artistic "pairing" of "food" and bubbly.

And the best of Foodbloggers 2007 recipes can be found HERE. (Wish I had known about this...New Years Resolution...to check "Is my Blog Burning" more often.)
